In 2010, distinguished psychologists from the esteemed Harvard University explored the intricate connection between present-moment mindfulness and the elusive concept of happiness. Their meticulous study revealed a remarkable revelation: the individuals who truly embody happiness possess the extraordinary ability to reside in the present moment. Vedic Vipassana, a form of mindfulness vedic meditation, transcends the mere attempt to discard one's thoughts. Instead, it beckons individuals to gracefully observe their thoughts or concentrate their minds on a singular object. Although seemingly simple, this practice yields astonishingly powerful results by directing undivided attention towards the current moment.
Like innocent children, our minds possess an innate propensity to wander aimlessly and without restraint. Much like mischievous sprites, our thoughts emerge from every conceivable direction, inundating our senses. The pursuit of happiness is an intrinsic yearning of our minds. We ceaselessly crave desires and fulfillment, relentlessly chasing after future aspirations while inadvertently disregarding the profound bliss that resides within the present moment. Consequently, this perpetual cycle of longing leads to many disappointments and unfavorable outcomes.
How can i practice Vedic Vipassana / Mindfulness Vedic Meditation?
The human mind yearns for boundless happiness; its essence is pure bliss. It is constantly seeking the pinnacle of joy and contentment. As we delve into our inner selves, we discover that our true nature is serenity and tranquility. The mind naturally turns inward during Vedic Meditation, and there is no need to force it to concentrate or control itself as long as we remain present and mindful. By observing our thoughts and actions without judgment, we can fully immerse ourselves in the present moment. This heightened awareness allows us to gain control over our emotions and experience a profound sense of peace.
Ask - What am I doing right now?
This is a fun inquiry that one can pose to oneself to bring one's mind into the realm of the present. Let us envision a scenario where you find yourself behind the wheel. You now ask, "What am I doing right now?" The mind, ever eager to respond, revels in the opportunity to analyze and resolve this query. Without hesitation, it promptly replies, "I am driving." Suddenly, you find yourself fully immersed in the present moment. Your focus sharpens as you navigate the road and absorb the beauty of your surroundings. Although distractions may arise in the next moment, fear not, for it is a fleeting occurrence. Pose the question once more after a brief interval. This profound inquiry is remarkably effective in every action you perform. After a month or so, your mind will undergo a transformative conditioning, embracing the joy of residing in the present. One can cultivate this state of being by practicing the art of Vipassana or engaging in Mindfulness Vedic Meditation throughout the day.
Which thought is on my mind right now?
As you ask this question, you will notice a subtle, thoughtless state, a brief moment of serene thoughtlessness, while your mind tries to find the answer. It is an unparalleled sensation of pure delight that shall grace your being.
After a brief interlude, your youthful mind shall wander into various musings. However, I implore you to pose the question once more. With each subsequent repetition, the state of mindlessness shall intensify, bestowing you an unparalleled sense of bliss and serenity.
